Augustine and Rosalia HinterhauserAugustine was the 6th child born to Philipp and Magdalena Hinterhauser, but only the 3rd to live past 2 years of age. He was born 30 April 1848 in the village of Milititsch1. This is where he would meet his wife, Rosalia Csihas, 2nd great grandchild of Bohemian immigrants to the region. They were married in Milititsch on 30 June 1873, when Augustine was 25 years old. After their marriage, August and Rosalia would live in several different residences throughout Milititsch7. Since he was the youngest son, he wouldn't inherit his parents house, and more than likely, the many moves were to find cheaper accommodations and more room for their growing family. Augustine lived 42 years 9 months and 9 days before he died of Tuberculosis on 9 February 1891. He was buried on the 11th of that same month1,8.
Rosalia, born 25 July 1850, was the 5th child of Josephus and Anna Maria Csihas1. She was 22 years old when she married Augustine7. They would have 9 children, only 5 would survive past the age of 38. Rosalia would have probably spent her days tending to the needs of the household, as most of the wives did. Her first priority would have been her children, making sure they were fed, clothed, and had some schooling. After these needs were met, she would put her cooking skills to use to make fresh bread in the oven that was probably located in the yard, due to the risk of fire. Other chores around the house included the family garden, where most of their fresh vegetable came from, caring for the the animals that they raised for food. These were probably chickens and some pigs. The date and place of Rosalia's death is unknown, but was probably about 19159.
