Philipp and Magdalena
HinterhauserPhilipp was the first child of Joseph and Anna, born 27 October 1817 in Filipowa, nine months after they were married1,3. Seems that they were anxious to have children. But, it was common practice during this time to have children as soon as you were married, as you can see from the other families. Little else is known of Philipp until he married Magdalena Kehl on 25 July 1837 in Filipowa, when he was 19 years old1,3. Philipp died on 19 June 1851, aged only 33 years.
Andreas and Eva Kehl gave birth to Magdalena on11 March 1818 in Filipowa. It is safe to assume that she met Philipp in Filipowa since both families lived there at the time. However, not long after they married they moved to the village of Milititsch, just a few miles away. This is where all of their children were born and where the Hinterhauser families finally settled for many years to come. Philipp and Magdalena had some very devastating and emotional first years of marriage. Their first three children, and their last, didn't live for more than 2 years. Magdalena would marry one more time before her death on 9 October 1882.

The villages settled by the Danube Schwabians were generally designed and laid out in Vienna before any of them arrived. The villages were usually designed with the church at the center, as most social life of the villagers surrounded the church. The houses were generally all very much alike, with a series of adjoining rooms with the parlor on one end and the shed for animals on the other. The house was surrounded by a fence and they generally grew some grapes and other household gardens within their yard.
The streets were generally built wide to accommodate the cattle being lead to a common pasture at the end of the street and also for social events and processions for celebrations of marriages and the mourning of a passed loved one.
